PCB Reverse Engineering & Product Redesign
Resurrecting Legacy Electronics. Modernizing for the Future.
In the lifecycle of industrial and commercial electronics, data loss and component obsolescence are inevitable challenges. DuxPCB provides a lifeline for these situations.
We are not just a board cloning service; we are an engineering firm capable of complete Electronic Forensics and Product Modernization. Whether you have lost your original Gerber files, need to migrate away from an End-of-Life (EOL) component, or wish to benchmark a competitive product, our team of 100+ Engineers can reconstruct the design data and optimize it for modern manufacturing.
1. PCB Reverse Engineering (Cloning)
Recovering Lost Intellectual Property.
If you own a physical board but lack the manufacturing data, we can reverse-engineer it to generate a complete, production-ready data package with 99.9% Netlist Accuracy.
The "De-layering" Process
We use destructive scanning techniques to analyze multi-layer PCBs layer by layer.
High-Precision Scanning: We sand down the PCB substrate layer by layer, scanning each copper layer with high-resolution industrial optical scanners.
Netlist Generation: Our software traces the connectivity between every pad and via, reconstructing the complete electrical Netlist.
Deliverables: You receive a full manufacturing package, including Gerber Files (RS-274X), NC Drill Files, and a generated Bill of Materials (BOM).
Firmware Extraction & BOM Recovery
BOM Construction: We measure and identify every component on the board. For unmarked passives, we use LCR bridges to determine values. For marked ICs, we identify the exact MPN.
IC Decryption (Legal Only): For legitimate IP owners, we can assist in extracting machine code (Hex/Bin files) from unlocked MCUs or memory chips to enable full replication.
2. Hardware Redesign & Modernization
Don't Just Copy. Improve.
A direct clone of a 10-year-old board often inherits 10-year-old problems (high cost, obsolete parts, large size). Our Redesign Service updates your product for the modern era.
Technology Migration (Through-Hole to SMT)
Challenge: Legacy boards often use bulky DIP components and wave soldering, which are labor-intensive and expensive.
Solution: We redesign the layout to utilize Surface Mount Technology (SMT) components. This reduces board size, lowers assembly costs, and improves signal integrity.
BOM Optimization & EOL Management
Challenge: The original design uses chips that are now Obsolete or have 50-week lead times.
Solution: Our engineers select modern, active equivalents (Form-Fit-Function alternates). We modify the PCB footprint and schematic to accommodate these new, available parts, securing your supply chain for the next decade.
Cost-Down Engineering
Challenge: The product is too expensive to compete in the current market.
Solution: We analyze the circuit to consolidate functions. For example, replacing multiple logic gates with a single low-cost MCU, or optimizing the layer stack-up to reduce fabrication costs.
3. Schematic Generation
Understanding the "Why".
Mere cloning gives you a picture; Schematic Generation gives you the logic. We reverse the physical layout back into a readable Electronic Schematic Diagram.
Logical Organization: We don't just connect dots; we organize the schematic into functional blocks (Power Supply, MCU, Analog Front End, I/O).
Future-Proofing: Having a schematic allows your internal R&D team to understand the original design intent, making future upgrades and debugging possible.
Our Ethical Standards & Protocol
We operate with strict adherence to intellectual property laws and business ethics.
Legitimacy Verification: We require clients to confirm ownership of the IP or legitimate rights (e.g., for compatibility or benchmarking purposes) before commencing work.
Non-Disclosure: We sign binding NDAs. Your reversed data is your property. We never sell your design to third parties or use it for our own products.
Verification Prototype: Before mass production, we always build a "Golden Sample" for you to test functionality against the original board, ensuring the reverse engineering process was 100% successful.
Why Trust DuxPCB with Your Legacy Hardware?
Deep Technical Analysis: We understand high-speed signal paths, impedance control, and RF structures. We don't just copy shapes; we replicate performance.
Component Intelligence: Our sourcing team identifies obsolete parts immediately and suggests modern replacements during the reverse engineering process, saving you a redesign step later.
Turnkey Execution: Once the design is recovered, we seamlessly transition to Mass Production in our own factory.
